Behind every national park is a team of ordinary people who are dedicated to maintaining the extraordinary. They may not wear capes, but they're heroes in our book. Meet the individuals who protect our parks and send thanks to an NPS employee or volunteer who made your last visit extra special.

National Park Ambassadors
They maintain habitats, educate visitors, and preserve history. They're rangers, museum curators, engineers, volunteers, landscape architects, and fire fighters. They're the treasured stewards of our national parks. They're National Park Ambassadors.

Thank you, not sure.We met a wonderful ranger this summer while watching Elk by Moose Lake . As we told him about a bear encounter we had the prior day near the Rockefeller Preserve Center he told us all about the famous Queen 399 . I was fascinated by all his stories of her and visited the Tom Mangelsen gallery in Jackson before we left . I quickly became obsessed with 399 and really all the grizzly population in the Yellowstone /Teton area and brought all this knowledge home with me to educate my grandchildren who are avid hikers and outdoorsmen already . Thank you so much to this ranger whose name I unfortunately do not know for educating me to the grizzly population and may I add - RIP 399 . 🥲

Thank you, to all the Park Ambassadors.I took my first trip to Zion National Park about15 ago, convinced by a concierge at the Grand Canyon that I really just had to go see this park because it was magical! And Magical it was! I have never seen formations like the ones while driving into the park on state Highway 89 and I returned almost every year to take it all in. By the time I turned 60 I had decided to celebrate by going to see the park in every season (expect for the summer). That was the best birthday ever and it was beyond beautiful. I hiked part of the Narrows river hike for the first time, and made a 6 mile round trip, with diabetes and a few extra sandwiches. I will be 70 soon, and am planning another trip there to take that all in again. Thank you all who care for the Parks with such joy and passion. You are awesome!
